Apple March 8th Event Recap

If you missed the Apple March 8th event, here’s a quick recap of what was announced:

  • iPhone 13 in a Green finish and iPhone 13 Pro in an Alpine Green finish; both new finishes available March 18th

  • New iPhone SE with A15 Bionic chip and ultra-fast 5G; no material design changes; starts at $429; available March 18th

  • New M1 Ultra chip (derives from the M1 Max chip; utilizes UltraFusion architecture to interconnect the die of two M1 Max chips to create M1 Ultra)

  • New 5th generation iPad Air with M1 chip, 12MP Ultra-Wide camera w/Center Stage, ultra-fast 5G; starts at $599; available March 18th

  • New Mac Studio

    • Small form factor (imagine a double height Mac Mini)

    • Configurable with M1 Max or M1 Ultra chip

    • On the rear: Four Thunderbolt 4 ports, 10Gb Ethernet, two USB-A port, HDMI port, 3.5mm headphone jack

    • On the front:

      • Mac Studio with M1 Max

        • Two USB-C ports and SDXC slot

      • Mac Studio with M1 Ultra

        • Two Thunderbolt 4 ports and SDXC slot

    • Starts at $1,599; available March 18th

  • New Studio Display with 27-inch 5K Retina screen

    • Configurable with standard or nano-texture glass (additional $300 for nano-texture glass)

    • A13 Bionic

    • 12MP Ultra-Wide camera w/Center Stage

    • Three microphone array

    • High-fidelity six speaker sound system with spatial audio

    • Three downstream USB-C ports, one upstream Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port with 96W host charging

    • Stand/Mounting options: VESA mount adapter, tilt-adjustable stand, tilt and height adjustable stand (additional $400 for tilt and height adjustable stand)

    • Starts at $1,599; available March 18th

  • Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, Magic Trackpad and Magic Mouse now available in a silver and black color option
